Over the years our teeth pick up stains and become discolored. If you are interested in whitening your teeth, you need to decide how white you want them and what method will work best for you.
Usually, your teeth can be lightened 8-10 shades, depending on the cause of the staining. Color charts are used to confirm and compare results. We will work with you to select a shade that gives your smile a sense of realism.
in-office bleaching
We offer BriteSmile® bleaching here in our office. In this procedure, we apply either a protective gel to your gums or a rubber shield to protect the oral soft tissues. Then the bleaching agent is applied to the teeth and a laser light is used to enhance the action of the whitening agent. Teeth can be whitened in 30 minutes to an hour and periodic touch-ups will be required.at-home bleaching
A second option for professional teeth whitening is to have a set of custom trays made for the upper and lower teeth. The trays are used with a whitening solution you purchase in-office. You will add the solution to the trays and wear them for a half hour or more daily. It will take 2 to 4 weeks to whiten your teeth using this method. You simple do whitening touch-ups as needed.Some discolorations cannot be corrected with bleaching. In these cases, we can consider dental veneers or bonding.
